Single parent's co-workers pay off prom dress for sick daughter

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- A La Crosse student who's battling a blood infection that could compromise her heart has had her prom dresses under 200 paid back by her single parent's co-workers. The La Crosse Tribune reports 17-year-old Kristen Meyers went to a store in town center La Crosse on 03 28 to make another payment on the Backless Long Champagne Halter Trumpet Mermaid Prom Dress. But she was handed an package with a note that said clothing had been paid back, and in addition it had $260 for lunch or accessories.

 Meyers' mother said the teen came to be with heart problems and has had heart surgery twice. She was susceptible to infections because of the disease, and she was hospitalized multiple times this year before doctors found a blood infection. Meyers gets medications intravenously at any hour, and doctors think your girl friend will beat chlamydia by prom May 9.
